OC Class

Overview

Maryland Public School offers an Opportunity Class for Year 5 and Year 6 students.

An orientation and parent information session are provided each year for students and their parents who have been made offers.

Opportunity Classes are for academically gifted and talented children in Years 5 and 6.

These classes exist in schools throughout NSW. They provide intellectual stimulation and a rich educational environment.

Opportunity Class Placement

Before being placed in an Opportunity Class, students should take an Opportunity Class Placement Test. The results of this test, combined with school assessment and other information about academic merit, will form the basis of any offer made. Further important information concerning Opportunity classes can be found by visiting the link above and clicking on "A short guide to parents."

Applications are made while students are in year 4 (usually in May with the external test occurring in July/August) and can be lodged online.

Outcomes are made known in November.
